Dr. Jo Treweek

Jo specialises in biodiversity-inclusive impact assessment at both project and strategic levels.
She combines work as an impact assessment practitioner with work in training and capacity building. For the past three years she has managed a capacity building programme for biodiversity in impact assessment for the International Association for Impact Assessment.
She is currently working on biodiversity aspects of EIA in West Africa and is a member of the Technical Steering Committee for the Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program.
Jo has experience in Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment for a wide range of developments in the UK and overseas, including river and coastal flood defence schemes, gas pipelines, mining projects and airports.
She has been instrumental in setting standards for Ecological Impact Assessment in the UK and for biodiversity-related global conventions. She is author of several peer reviewed books and articles on Ecological Impact Assessment and on grassland ecology.
Jo is interested in researching new approaches to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and the safeguarding of essential ecosystem services.
